Privacy Policy
Short version: this is a site you read. We collect as little as possible and sell none of it.
What is collected
Standard server logs record the usual technical details of a request — IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the time, and the referring page. Logs exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse. They are kept for a limited period and then discarded.
If you email us, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of any correction that was made.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Where aggregate analytics are used, they are configured to report visit counts and page popularity, not to build a profile of an individual reader.
What is not done
Your data is never sold, rented, or traded. It is not used to build advertising audiences. It is not passed to hotels or operators.
Third parties
Web fonts are loaded from an external font service, which will see the request your browser makes for them. Links to hotel websites lead to pages governed by their own policies, not this one.
Your choices
Browser settings can block cookies and scripts, and the site remains readable with them off. To ask what we hold about you, or to have an email exchange deleted, write to editor@socialnewzealands.com and we will act on it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated text will appear on this page.
